Brain breaks are essential for your emotional health

November 5, 2020 By Dr. Heather

Daily brain breaks are essential for mental and emotional health. It’s not as though they’re a requirement, but for many people, they’re a necessity. Giving your mind a rest throughout the day allows it to recharge and stay focused.

Mental brain breaks are vital to keeping a positive attitude and a positive mind. When there are days that you wake up feeling sluggish, it might be because thoughts and emotions overload your brain.

Many people tend to push through the day and “get through,” however, this typically leads to a vicious cycle resulting in more fatigue and stress. Taking a few moments each day to yourself is perfectly fine. Believe it or not, your brain welcomes a daily break to reboot and recharge!

-> Your brain can only handle so much. Have you ever been so stressed out that suddenly you had a headache? This our brain telling you that it’s overloaded and needs you to stop. Take this as a cue to slow down and rest. Take a walk, take a nap, or remove yourself from a stressful conversation or thought.

-> You can program your brain. Unfortunately, if your daily experience is constant gossip and chatter, your mind will be programmed to crave that kind of stimulation. Instead of filling it full of those kinds of ideas, try to put some good stuff into your brain as well. Read positive articles, have meaningful conversations, and put a good book in your bag to read. I have mentioned following @gabbyberstein and @gretchinrubin to help make positive mental thoughts.

be well, laugh, find your joy

First Visit

We discuss your symptoms and what is going on with your health.

From our conversation, I draw up a treatment plan that will be sent to you within 24 hours with any suggested supplements and/or lab work. Depending on your location, we will determine the best place to have the lab work performed. Any necessary prescriptions will be sent from Fullscript where you can easily create an account and fulfill online.

Note: I usually suggest blood work and other labs in a 1st session to look at body biomarkers so that we can match symptoms to what is happening in the body and then make sure to align diet and lifestyle from there.
