The body doesn’t want to be sick. if you have heard me talk, you know I say this a lot. I became a naturopathic doctor because I believe in the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. And symptoms are just clues that the body is off, similar to taking another road to avoid traffic. The key is to figure out why the body is doing this and that is what I love to do. Being a good detective and putting the puzzles pieces back together.
And typically, these puzzles pieces are simple changes. most diseases are due to environmental factors so my tip for today to better health: TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF OUTSIDE! Don’t bring them indoors. If you do, you are bringing everything you stepped on – pesticides, herbicides and everything else you can imagine in your sanctuary. Why put more burden on your liver??
There is also a culture aspect. I grew up in Canada and have lived in Hawaii for the last 17 years and in both places, it is custom and respectful to take you shoes off. In addition, I look at it like a hygiene issue – prevention.
