Your day to day lifestyle choices and discussions have a huge effect on your biology and activity of your genes.
And knowing and being aware of this helps me personally to make good choices; it actually allows me to step back think about this choice, whether it is food related or skincare related or how I am thinking, before acting on it. It’s funny, as I am writing this, I briefly glanced up at a picture I have on my wall… see below:
Your genes are encoded with DNA and expression of these genes can be highly dynamic in response to environmental factors. This is referred to as EPIGENETICS. I was first introduced to epigenetics by Dr. Bruce Lipton and his book, Biology of Belief. Here is a recent podcast he did with the beautiful Jen Mavros if you are interested in learning more about his work.
The AIR you breath
- if you live in a city or a place where the air quality is not optimal, consider purchasing an air filter. I use an Alen Corp Air Filter
The FOOD you eat
- eat as much organic, non- GMO as you can. it has fewer chemicals and not only friendly to your body but the planets
How you THINK
- start meditating. I use Headspace however, I have done the Transcendental Meditation course and that was indespencable information
The WATER you drink
- have your water tested
All of this is the main reason I became a naturopathic doctor. They are all the foundations that give us strength in our personal physiology and give us optimal health. However, when we are sick and out of balance, a little ( deep) medical detective work is needed and this is where I come in.
