She lives with her husband and her two daughters, with whom she based her stories’ characters, Merrin and Pearl.

I’m grateful for…
  • Grateful for my Canadian upbringing
  • Baking (one of my favorite hobbies): During childhood, I was known as the neighborhood baker who made the best fudge and muffins
  • Working with Daphne Sheldrick, the amazing woman who saves, cares and then rehabilitates baby, orphaned elephants in Kenya (this took my love of animals to a whole new level)
  • Hanging out with Dian Fossey’s mountain gorillas in Rwanda
  • Riding a motorcycle on the island of Crete
  • Helping sea turtles as an undergraduate in Florida
  • Every single time I get on a plane – and especially when I’m headed to Paris
  • Watching the phosphorescent ocean glow in northern Peru
  • Trusting myself & being courageous enough to go to naturopathic medical school
  • The home births of both of my daughters: Merrin needed to be grounded on the earth and Pearl had to be born in water (reflects their personalities!)
  • My children’s book series, Human Body Detectives (yes, I’m biased, but I adore everything about it, especially the joy and knowledge it has brought so many families)
My Story

It all started when I was in my early teens. To my mother’s dismay, I spent my allowance at the local health food store (buying 10-pound loaves of bread) and gravitated to school projects involving herbs and vitamins. But, it wasn’t until my high school biology class that my interest in health really came into a big awareness: how could the human body possibly do all the things it does?! I was mesmerized.

I went on to receive my Bachelors of Science in pre-med with a special focus on wildlife biology. After working in a conventional doctors’ office and witnessing their approach, I didn't feel aligned with their methods. Luckily, I learned the naturopathic approach to medicine – moving beyond symptoms to treat the whole person while really getting to know each patient. I found my calling. Next thing I knew, I was taking classes at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

I started my practice in Hawaii with a focus on prevention for families, helping them create natural-based, at-home pharmacies for their specific needs. This led me to write the award-winning children’s book and curriculum series, Human Body Detectives, which helps children understand how their bodies work and what foods best fuel them.

I currently practice with an even deeper focus on prevention and have expanded to offer my patients and clients a more holistic approach to wellness with workshops, access to the best supplement and skincare products and remote consultations via phone and video.

During over 15 years of practice, I’ve seen it time and time again: your body doesn’t want to be sick. I utilize a variety of methods, whether lab work or diet and lifestyle recommendations, to find the roots of your symptoms, teach you how to hear the gentle hints your body is giving you and guide you back to health.

My motto is: Be Proactive. Be Healthy. Be Confident.

I’m here to help you live this every day.

Be well,

First Visit

We discuss your symptoms and what is going on with your health.

From our conversation, I draw up a treatment plan that will be sent to you within 24 hours with any suggested supplements and/or lab work. Depending on your location, we will determine the best place to have the lab work performed. Any necessary prescriptions will be sent from Fullscript where you can easily create an account and fulfill online.

Note: I usually suggest blood work and other labs in a 1st session to look at body biomarkers so that we can match symptoms to what is happening in the body and then make sure to align diet and lifestyle from there.
