What is health residency? And do your lifestyle choices affect it? How fast do you bounce back from a cold? How fast do you recover from a tough workout? These all matter.
I am a preventative health advocate and this is one of the reasons why: health resiliency.
How well you sleep, the food & water choices you make, your community, how you move your body, how you manage stress all help your body reach optimal function ( ie: immune health) and health resiliency.
Food & Water Choices: Whole colorful foods are not refined or processed. Many people refer to whole foods as being plant-based. This is true and is a great place to begin. Water keeps our body’s cells hydrated and increases circulation, which in turn helps the body’s elimination pathways in flushing out toxins.
- With shopping for Whole Foods, shop the periphery of your grocery store.
- I use the Berkey water filter and love it.
Movement: The body needs to move. It helps pump the blood and lymph throughout the blood vessels. Optimal circulation helps with the delivery of nutrients and oxygen. Keeping the muscles strong, keeps your bones strong. All important things!
Managing your Stress: This one is tough. When we feel good, we generally are eating well, staying within our community, moving our bodies, getting out in nature. However, when we begin to feel overwhelmed, many times we let go of all that. This is when creating some “in the moment” tools is important. Have a music playlist, a reference book with a poem you like or wise words that make you feel good, or perhaps, a funny short TV show; something that will encourage you to get out of your head for a few minutes.
With taking good care of your body, with sound healthy lifestyle choices, it gives it the health resiliency you deserve. You may get sick, but you will recover quicker.
